Travlin' Light

The Portland Adventure is off to a wonderful start! Already I have lost multiple games of pool to Aaron, had a bitingly cold rugby practice, learned volumes about the Ukraine from my Ukrainian roommate, and  submitted an application to volunteer in El Salvador over spring break. Not bad for the first day of school.

I hesitate to post pictures of the Lewis and Clark campus below because the true splendor of the scenery is not even remotely captured. But, if anything, it can serve as a teaser to entice family and friends to come visit! The severe contrast between the sunny spots and the shadows due to the dense tree canopy are what deteriorate the picture quality the most. In person, however, it is that same contrast that makes the colors so vibrant and the landscape reminiscent of a fairy tale.

Travlin' Light

Approaching the cloud line after taking off from Tampa, Florida.

Above the clouds, you can almost see Pooh and Gopher fixing the leak. (Somewhere between Tampa and Phoenix, USA)

The pathway connecting the academic and social sides of campus (Lewis and Clark College, Portland, Oregon). The trees have such a presence about them, almost personalities. You can't help but respect them (Sorry your son is a goll dern tree hugger, Dad).

The Frank Manor House on the campus of Lewis and Clark College.

Looking down the cascading lawns towards the reflection pool. If you look closely you can see Mt. Hood in the background! (Lewis and Clark College, Portland, Oregon)

The dining hall at Lewis and Clark College (The Bon'). The warmth and humanness inside, especially when viewed from the cold dark outside, is enough to make you smile!

There is something about this campus and the people that make it that is invigorating. Everyone you talk with is passionate about life, trying to capture all that it has to offer. It's a great place to be 23 years old.
